Day 1: Nairobi Sight Seeing
Dinner and overnight at Wildebeest Eco Camp
Day 2-3: Game drives in Amboseli with great views of Kilimanjaro and herds of elephants
Dinner and overnight at Kibo Safari Camp
Day 3: Morning and afternoon game drive at Samburu National Reserve
Dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp
Day 4-5: Head into the wilderness of Tsavo
Wake up early to see the sunrise over the imposing Kilimanjaro, then after breakfast continue your safari onto Tsavo West, which is about a two-hour drive mostly through wilderness and there will also be a stop at the Shetani lava flows. You’ll be staying at the stunning Serena Kilaguni Lodge situated inside the park where you’ll arrive in time for lunch. Late afternoon you’ll head out into Tsavo West for game drive and a visit to the Mzima Springs where you may see hippos and Nile crocodiles and many different species of bird. You’ll then return to Kilaguni for dinner and spend your evening relaxing and watching the wildlife arrive at the watering hole overlooked by the lodge’s restaurant, lounge and bar. You can spend the next day out on morning and afternoon game drives, enjoying the lodges’ facilities and great views or spend the whole day exploring the park with a picnic lunch.
Dinner and overnight at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge
Day 6: From the green hills of Tsavo West to the scenic Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
After breakfast you will depart Kilaguni and head for the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a very scenic area with abundant wildlife. There are more than fifty species of large mammals and three hundred species of birds here and it’s not uncommon to spot two dozen species in a morning game drive. You can find lions, cheetahs, large herds of elephant and buffalo as well as many other interesting species! You’ll arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Salt Lick, an unusual game viewing lodge, set on stilts overlooking a water source which attracts a lot of wildlife, which can be viewed from the comfort of the lodge, your room or from the excellent ground-level hide. Later on, you’ll be taken out by your driver for a game drive in this very scenic park that covers over 28,000 acres of protected area before heading back to the lodge for dinner.
Dinner and overnight at Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge
Day 7-8: Game drives in the semi-arid, hot scrublands of Tsavo East
After breakfast and a game drive, you’ll leave Taita for Tsavo East; a plateau of open grassland with giant baobab trees that is the largest protected area in Kenya at over 13,500 sq km. This huge park is home to many of the larger mammals, including elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and 500 recorded bird species. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at the remotely located Satao camp, which enjoys a unique setting overlooking a watering hole which attracts in many animals for their daily drink and is one of the best places to see large herds of elephants. You’ll have some time to relax and take in the surroundings and views before heading out on an afternoon game drive to explore the park with your guide. Other attractions here include the Lugards Falls on the Galana river and also Mudanda Rock, a large, prominent, towering rock formation that attracts elephants and other wildlife including leopard. You will spend two days here on game drives exploring this biodiversity stronghold!
Dinner and overnight at SereBasecamp Masai Mara
Day 9: Tsavo East to Nairobi
After an early morning game drive you’ll head back to camp for breakfast, then mid-morning you will leave for Nairobi with a picnic lunch, where you’ll be dropped at your preferred location (airport/hotel). End of tour.
